Meet our Sport & Exercise Therapist Sophie
Sophie Robertson – Sport & Exercise Therapist
Hello, my name is Sophie Robertson, I am a graduate Sport & Exercise Therapist accredited by the Society of Sports Therapists. I have just moved to Manchester to study a Masters in Strength & Conditioning where I shall specialise in performance analysis, injury prevention & sports coaching.
I used to be a competitive swimmer and have represented my country, the Falkland Islands (a British overseas territory), in a couple of international competitions. I had various issues myself during this time and was in and out of treatment with Physiotherapists quite regularly, which ignited my interest in the industry. I have always loved the sporting world; however, I realised I wanted to be involved as a healer, not as a competitor. Being a kinaesthetic learner, I naturally gravitated towards physical jobs and have always been more successful with them. Being “hands-on” is a necessity for me and the wonderful thing in this industry is that you will always be doing something different.
I have also been an active ‘gym-rat’ (as Gen Z would say) for many years hence the progression into Strength and Conditioning. I love clinical work, but I also love coaching and biomechanics. With this Masters, I will be able to cover a lot more ground in the industry and work with many more people with different goals and hopefully help them to achive them.
Being able to help people’s day-to-day life become easier and seeing their relief is such a wholesome moment. The concept of figuring out an issue and fixing it for them is both exciting and rewarding. So, I would be thrilled to see you in the clinic! I will be available at “A+ Sports Therapy” on Monday & Tuesday evenings from 4pm to 8pm and I also have a daytime clinic every Thursday from 10am to 4pm and you can book in for a treatment with me now!
